In times of lack of leadership, it's easier to blame a mythical "them" rather than confront specific faulty, corrupt, incompetent bureaucrats. Furthermore, it provides a sense of tribal community in uncertain times. It's moot at this point because it doesn't really change anything now or in the future but reveal additional evil corporate actions.
The only things that can and must change the situation are:
1. Global GHG reductions
2. Carbon capture and sequestration (CCS), primarily from oceanic biologically-farmed sources similar to kelp or phytoplankton.
It is difficult to get someone to understand something when their salary, lifestyle, beliefs, or opinions depends upon them not understanding it.
Millions of Americans are addicted to their muscle cars, SUVs, BigMacs, steaks, Costco, highly energy-intensive disposable consumer goods, and worldwide jet-setting vacations.
Forcing kids back into school is insanely ridiculous; not for the kids' health, but for health and safety of everyone else around them because the kids get thrown into routine super-spreader events.
Furthermore, the new head of the Coronavirus Task Force, Dr. Scott Atlas, is an absolute nutjob (Hoover Institute disciple and ideologue, anti-masker, anti-isolation) without the necessary credentials (neuroradiologist) or skills for the job. The US (as of writing) already has 20% of the world's cases and 19% of the deaths despite having only 4% of the population. The only rational conclusion that can be drawn is that the US is falling flat on its face because of a lack of leadership.
Granted the immense infrastructure investment, but why not ditch electrical and natural gas for hydrogen? Hydrogen is much safer, cleaner, and less lossy than either.
How can unfairness be spread "evenly" when it is a amorphous, unique, and situational impression? Also, isn't that like a wrong rationalizing its existence by another wrong?
Let us consider unfairness such as forcing a kid to ride a bus 3 hours per day when there is a perfectly good school next door they can't attend because they're Asian. Does that "fix" segregation because it's an "equal" unfairness too?
Two wrongs don't make a right, but three lefts do.
I don't understand this acceptance of meritless praise, much like body positivity towards the morbidly obese who are on the verge of dying. It's tantamount to rationalizing cheating on a test person gets a job versus those who do all of the work do not.
Also, if someone believes they're not an expert at something, then maybe that's a clue to master it rather than riding on the coattails of image or happenstance?
Tokugawa Ieyasu’s shit list includes comedians. That's funny. Leave Conan, Oliver, and Fallon alone, but Japan can have the rest of the American celebrity comedians to despise.
CAES also has awful energy density of ~100 kJ/m^3 or ~100 J/L. It's not worth it. Small CAES implies closer to people and more likely to experience heat and fires, more so than say 200 psi / 13 atm air compressors, and so inherently more dangerous than all existing residential and commercial products including water heaters with failed/blocked relief valves. Perhaps almost on-par with LPG tanks, which are not supposed to be stored inside building either but in a remote pit or shed.
Large amounts of reactive lithium metal in NMC (0.90–2.43 MJ/L) "powerwall" reserve banks in or on a building also seems like a major fire risk. LiFePO4 (1.2 MJ/L) is safer due to much less lithium.
By comparison with fuels:
- Al thermite is ~18 MJ/L
- Cu thermite is ~21 MJ/L
- hydrogen is ~28 MJ/L @ 700 psi
- gasoline is ~32 MJ/L
- Jet A is ~35 MJ/L
- diesel is ~36 MJ/L
In the long-term, a reliable, reversible fuel cell combined with H2 tanks and H2 generation and distribution infrastructure seems like the best hybrid on- / off-grid way to go, at deployment cost though, but it could eliminate the increasingly-dangerous electrical grid and natural gas grid. Short-term, LiFePO4 looks better and better.
Former USPTO patent examiners who do consulting are gold to work with your patent lawyers.
Remember that a provisional patent is like chicken soup: just throw everything into it.
For general legal assistance: Orrick.
Furthermore, utilize legal help wisely by extracting as much value out of every second of meetings as possible. You're paying for it. If you need a top-notch commercial or residential real estate agent, especially someone who's also a broker to trim the fees, ask who they would use who is plugged-in to the scene and get you a good property.
Oh my. It reminds me that about 2001, I purchased a medium quality Serta bed from Mancini's Sleepworld (in CA) that arrived in a sealed plastic bag. The mattress stunk with a chemical odor (assuming it was FR's) for 2 months. IIRC I returned it because it wasn't going away. The factory workers likely applied far too much FR. A different mattress solved the problem.
Also, btw, yellowing plastic: that's often bromine FR compounds leeching out of the plastic. Dilute bleach w/ a surfactant is a good cleaner for that.

For fixed-site applications of sufficient land area and scale, it's difficult to beat pumped-storage hydroelectricity (PSH). The round-trip efficiency is around or above 70%, the same or better than CAES. CAES is probably best used in applications similar to flywheel (FES), away from occupied areas.
