You're right, I was just editing my comment as you posted that. I'm going to go be quiet now lol.

Not true. The prosecution agreed to only pursue criminal tax violations. See my other comment.

Man, I'm low on sleep and making mistakes. I misunderstood the cooperation agreement[0] to mean she would only be prosecuted for criminal tax violations. I see now she has plead guilty to fraud though [1].

I really don’t think they should have let the rest of the executive team walk, especially Ellison. They knew what they were doing too, and I’m sure they could have built a strong enough case to convince SBF and the others through plea deals and such

A lot of that must come from actual children with no easy way of paying. The value prop is so obvious for any adult spending considerable time on the site that’s not in actual poverty that I doubt the vitriol is coming from them.

The Declaration of Independence was a manifesto

Had the American revolution not succeeded it would be relegated to being classified as a typical rebel manifesto that people basically do not care about

I know people like this, I work on major public cloud products. Sometimes they are “staff” or other high level-titled.

But you have to recognize some of the projects you’ve listed are mostly notable because they are very well documented and have a lot of OSS (besides RTC) mindshare; there are just as technically challenging and valuable projects that are less well known because they are proprietary sold software.

A diagnosis might help you get something like medication which does actually help.

I agree that if you don’t plan on taking medication there is no need to seek a diagnosis. Unless you want to get involved in ADHD support groups and stuff, where you’d (imo rightfully) draw some errant looks if you admitted you’d never been diagnosed with it.

For me the medication is life changingly effective so I’m very glad I got formally diagnosed at 25

To me the size is an advantage. Living in SF this would be easy to park and probably more maneuverable.

A used car comes with maintenance costs, and in practice for this price range would probably be an ICE.

Personally I would be comparing this more to a micro mobility device than a traditional vehicle. In which case it’s a couple times more expensive than a good e-bike but more convenient for errands

It’s a common symptom in cannabis withdrawals. A lot of people are not even aware of it’s existence, since the legalization of cannabis in many areas it’s becoming a very common reason people go to the ER (without knowing that it’s linked to their cannabis use)

To fight Cannabis Hyperemesis hopefully you can take/get prescribed Zofran or some other anti-nausea meds.

If you simply find your appetite to be gone, maybe it will help to exercise? This will also help with falling asleep. Remember some exercise is better than no exercise, so don’t burn yourself out going hard on your first day by getting an injury or discouraged.

For sleep I don’t have a good way to fight the REM rebound or difficulty falling aslee. IMO you should embrace the REM rebound as long as you don’t get severe nightmares or anything. It’s your body recovering from chronically low amounts of that specific phase of sleep.

If you’ve become accustomed to taking large amounts of cannabis to get “in the zone” you might want to try taking a large dose of caffeine instead. What’s large for you may depend on your tolerance. My tolerance is decently high and I would consider 300mg enough for this.

I’ve gone through this a couple times and it’s not that bad. The worst is the difficulty falling asleep which only takes a few days to fix, and the CHS which only lasts a couple days. The brain fog takes a while to fix though

I think they might be talking more about when you are in a “golden handcuff” situation due to RSU appreciation. For example right now because of appreciation I don’t think I could find another job willing to beat my current comp (except maybe in finance which I don’t really want to do). That may still be the case when my grants run out, especially if they appreciate more. In that case you have to just suck it up and accept that you are not inherently deserving of that level of comp

I know many more extreme examples where friends working at startups hit it big. No, a 25 year old SWE is not going to be able to job hop to another job paying them $1m/y right out of the gate

Do those once and you’ve done them a hundred times.

Vast majority of software engineering is tedious and boring. Almost no developing cutting edge optimal algorithms. Occasionally interesting design/architecture problems but the majority of the time spent on those is on writing docs, consensus building/communication, and implementation. It’s hard to find the motivation and force yourself to spend week after week chasing down bugs through poorly written code, but almost no task itself is challenging.

Personality, while much harder to measure than interests, is a much better way to determine if people can be friends. And “interests”, unless you take them very seriously like being an amateur golfer or musician or something, are quite ephemeral; I tend to share interests with friends because we became friends first and then both got into new hobbies together, not vice versa.

It would be naive to assume that the only people who want to push America to fascism are from other countries. There are a lot of people in the US that support that too.

The whole point of bringing 8chan down is to make it harder for them to congregate and fracture their community. It also makes it harder for new people to be indoctrinated.

Reddit found that banning hate subreddits reduced the overall usage of hate speech on the website. Even though the most dedicated users probably moved to voat, now some clueless kid who just wants to see look at memes is much less likely to just stumble upon that content.

I used to go on 4chan as a teenager. It was always "edgy" but only recently (since roughly around gamergate and Elliot Rodger, which is also when 8chan started) has it begun to seriously drift to the far-right. White nationalists saw that as an opportunity to radicalize teenagers to their cause and it's still ongoing.

There is a whole cottage industry of people attempting to radicalize jaded white teens and "skeptics" to turn them from ideological libertarians or politically unaffiliated into hateful, "alt-right" fascists. One of them was Steve Bannon [0].

He has said that he intends to give each of his three children $10mm. That means he would be giving away over 99.9% of his wealth.
