Oh please, this project was doing fine for two decades with regular bug reports and it suddenly needs to collect data straight after a hostile takeover by a company with a shady privacy policy? An offline audio editor doesn't need to be connected to the net.

A big portion of its users were unhappy with the addition of telemetry and welcomed the fork, someone made a thread because the guy who did the fork added "sneedacity" as an option to the poll(due to sneed being a joke, not due to negative reasons). The drama started when the maintainer shut the poll down when "sneedacity" was winning (despite the fact that he added it, not trolls or someone else) and started to ban everyone who asked questions regarding this. This is hardly a "4chan raid" since "sneedacity" was added to the poll by the maintainer himself who also made the poll publicly available. People participating in a public poll is not a "raid".

He then claimed that he was called 70 times and was sent 3000 mails as harassment but never showed any proof and deleted some of his tweets regarding it. Interestingly the 4chan threads he posted on his twitter as proof of the alleged harassment didn't contain any personal information or people requesting his personal information. I don't know about you but refusing to provide proof, changing the story when asked and deleting posts when it gets noticed looks suspiciously like pretending to be a victim.

He's putting some vile stuff on his github bio currently(changes often) so I don't know what's going on. It's a shame the needless drama this guy caused with his inability to manage a project is getting more attention than the current situation with audacity.
