Nukes prevented global super powers from going to war against each other for the past 80 years. Maybe the vast democratization and spread of cheap drones will prevent all these stupid little wars that have been fought since WWII. One can hope at least. The whole idea of the US going to war against China is idiotic once any half witted person spends at least 2 minutes thinking about the implications... But hey - it's been great for the military-industrial complex to profit off the fear mongering!

The rules need to be updated to better ensure accurate calls. If we can agree that Balogun's red card was overkill because his trip wasn't intentional then there should be a way to reverse the call. And Maradona's "hand of god" goal should have been reversed as well. There should be MORE than one ref on the pitch during these games. And spare me the, "This is how's it's always been" argument... It's the World Cup. Let's do better!

There are startups trying to reduce the time/cost of chip-fab. Atomic Semi is one. Most of the big players have shuttle services which one can use to put a small chip on for fabrication for not a lot of money ~ $10k for a few chips. Tiny Tapeout acts as an OshPark or JLC PCB for chip design using 2 different fabs - skywater's 130nm and IHP's 130nm node. Wafer.space uses Gobal Foundries 180nm (~ $7 per 20mm^2 chip).

At the end of the day the industry has evolved and optimized to stamp out millions of chips a year with very little defects. However that requires a fairly hefty upfront commitment in design/verification time along with a capital commitment to make enough chips to get economies of scale. This breaks down when trying to build small volumes of chips quickly. It's like trying to turn an oil tanker quickly....

I've had a Framework 13 for 20 months now. AMD Ryzen™ 5 7640U w/ 32GB DDR4. Running Ubuntu. I love it. My only complaint/request: USB-C for power should be build into the chassis and not require a modular port. You get 4 ports to mix things like usb/hdmi/sd-card, etc... 1 of the 4 is always using the usb-c for power.

Seems like a shrewd move. Historically Qualcomm products were only available to the top 5 phone vendors. You couldn't even steal a datasheet... If they're serious about opening up their products to more potential customers this might be a great way. Follow the raspberry pi model. You never know when a garage product will grow into the next multi-billion dollar socket. TI/ST/NXP/etcc could do this too and all it takes is cheap PCB's (mass produce at scale) and lots of documentation.....

I'm 43 and I felt the pressure of getting into a good college back in highschool. I remember anecdotes of older kids talking about it when I was in later elementary school grades. I don't think the college pressure is all that new. Maybe more widespread?
