i see how that came off a bit direct. i agree the 24 hour news cycle is way way too much. and one issue after another is totally depressing. but we can't ignore problems as general advice, that's not how things get solved.
iOS 14 shows a green or amber dot in the top right if the camera or microphone is active. But yes i generally agree that more robust monitor tools are still needed. iPad is "a computer", right apple?
While I do enjoy using my Pinebook Pro I usually grab the iPad or Thinkpad, but the pinebook does get a good amount of use.
The pinebook is faster than i figured, but it is slow although not annoying slow. Storage is slow and they have m.2 adapters if you are cool with more power usage.
The ultimate number one thing to do with this device is turn off tap to click. With that off the trackpad is okayish but still crap. i actually enjoy tap to click on Apple and Thinkpad trackpads. The keyboard is good enough and better than most laptops. not mechanical keyboard good but good in a 50g sponge-ish way. Display is a typical 1080p matte IPS screen (aka a minimum requirement for display specs for some but still within the range although at the low end.)
I will say it is valuable to have as a developer. I find it helpful to work off of a slow device sometimes to test how your widget will work as you might run into issues with timers or other weirdness, and aarch64 is somewhat becoming more common - so it might be good to test on that platform too.
iSH emulates 32-bit alpine x86 and can install things from apk
