While I disagree with solitary confinement I also disagree with a murderer reinventing himself as some sort of guru and getting a diversity department job at MIT
This man talks about the stigma of being a felon as being unfair when he took someone's life
I would equate his confinement with torture. However I don't think we should reward him for suffering through a punishment he granted himself.
When a person like this gets ted talks and photoshoots I think we've gone too far. The man has used his crime to turn himself into a brand
At this point, is HN just a place to play devil's advocate against obvious realities? Every thread is just a battle between common sense and people doing long-winded mental gymnastics, and the latter is clearly winning. This is turning into reddit with a higher word count.
This article has some issues. The author states that apple's best ARM chip is comparable to one in a "top of the line" imac. This is utterly false.
They also state that the A13 trounces every other ARM chip by 2x yet uses a chart that doesn't include the Qualcomm 865 which is in current flagship android phones.
It doesn't really hurt the main point of the article but the logical appeal falls flat when you don't seem to really understand what you are discussing at a technical level.
Yet there are no aspects of public healthcare that are any more efficient. It could be largely worse because people have no options and are compelled to pay whatever the government stipulates for whatever coverage they end up with. There is no more incentive to lower prices at the doctor or hospital than there is with private insurance.
Personally I think insurance should be done away with and you should pay strictly regulated costs directly to the doctor. However that's just another pipe dream. There is no single solution to healthcare.
You're missing three part where Kallinske was trying to make a deal with Silicon Graphics for the hardware that Nintendo ended up buying for the n64. This would have been a much better outcome. Sega Japan shut it down simply because Kallinske came up with it and they weren't going to answer to Sega America.
They don't really need to, they are already making the most powerful RISC chips on the planet. They both were looking at arm for mobile devices but stopped/divested when qualcomm became dominant. It really makes no sense for them to license arm patents and designs when AMD already has stuff like their new 4xxx laptop chips.
I think rather than switching to arm, they will just continue making super efficient designs, er, amd will at least haha.
You can "program" any motor via an MCU. All motors are "dumb" unless we are talking stepper motors, and even then they are still "dumb", just not even useful unless you have support hardware
