good one, though it has to be a fairly long word. Personally I check the current minutes of the hour :P

There is a level of investment we put in the platforms we use.

This comment is akin to asking farmers cut off from repairing their equipment "why don't you buy tractors from a different company instead of fighting to fix your existing ones?"

The investment in the case of social media is the network you've built. In my country most local events are announced primarily on facebook for example.

That is definitely the case in anything I've bought from them.

I have a feeling that the only one reading the comments is the ChatGPT that is giving the answers, no point in engaging further IMO

"The decision to keep Hollow closed source isn’t about restricting users, it’s about ensuring stability while maximizing customization through plugins and themes."

I am not sure if the above is marketing speech but of course you can open source it while not accepting PR that would harm the stability of the app.

Most developers interested in such software would not invest time and effort towards projects that may be abandoned soon, or that may have their future versions require subscriptions.

I am not going to be using Hollow, it is unusable in its current state and I do not see any security in helping the app grow.

Hey, I downloaded and played around with the app a bit and it feels promising. It looks like obsidian in the sense of aspiring to be an "everything" app.

However, I am much more likely to use and contribute to the ecosystem of an app that is open source, in order to avoid a rug pull (relevant article https://howtomarketagame.com/2021/11/01/dont-build-your-cast...).

I read in the website that it is not open source because it does not need to be, could you elaborate on this?

Are yous saying this because people are dunking on X11?

For me the website is down, but it is on the archive: (https://web.archive.org/web/20250125101223/https://wedistrib...)

It feels very hard to find any sort of information on "Loops". Especially regarding their decentralization model.

It would be super interesting and useful for the world to have open source algorithms, so you can choose what best suits you.

I think Bluesky's ATP can support that, not sure about ActivityPub, but it probably can too.

I am not sure I understand what you mean by "trustworthy enough to send them notifications". Do you need anything other than one's phone number to send them a signal message?

Really curious, how do you quantify "close" in such numeric ranges?

Quick calculations say that ratio is 1.71:1 (https://rentry.co/k85wy696). I guess given the scale of the numbers having such a low ratio is interesting.

But my intuition says that in physics constants are scattered in a sort of logarithmic way, i.e. the orders of magnitude are uniformly scattered in some range. So small ratios between such constants not impossibly rare.

I may be full of shit though!
