This guy sounds like an asshole. If he is so concerned about the current state of affairs he should write an application and show the world real problem solving concepts. Instead he rages about something and in the end pretends to be smarter than he actually is.
because almost all of the visitors of digg went to reddit. they are having hard time handling the traffic.. they're very unfortunate that they sold it to conde nast.
This is Hacker News, you are free to do that. It inspires us actually.
This is why I go back to Hacker News everytime. I list the reasons again:
1) Because bunch of smart guys hang over here.
2) There's just so much to learn especially on starting a startup, this is one topic that I love because it teaches us something.
3) Because of PG.
And I think this topic teaches everyone of us something worth posting here in HN.
Your wife has some associated bias. I totally agree with them, you can increase your revenue like 5 times if you just made that clearer.
But I guess you have some point since I'm guessing that the Edu website gets noticed not because of Web search but word of mouth of teachers. And probably the teachers who spread this website to other teachers have well explained the product's features enough already.
But If you just upgrade the clarity of your site. The web searcher won't get trouble and know your site's purpose immediately.
You honorably recognize your talents and achievements. But you still start a topic asking your candidacy?
Then what label can you give me? I'm not an aerospace engineer, I'm not a serial entrepreneur, and I'm sure as hell that I would never build an electronic passenger car.
Everyone is welcome here. We humans are extraordinarily curious beings, curiosity & willingness to explore is the main reason why we kept visiting this site.
TechCrunch posts more than 5+ articles now. I read tons of news everyday, from HN, RSS reader, TC, OM..
But kudos for making the story short and concise everytime, it is what makes me come back to TC. Because they go straight to the point. Unlike GigaOM, they have long posts.
And, the cool thing about reading TC is you see some drama happening. You remember when Mark Cuban got angry and expressed his feeling in TC? How bout the debacle of DEMO? We watched how Michael Arrington brought down DEMO!!
This is what news should be! Excitement + Wisdom + Humour
