> During the first eight years that the Pentagon ran the anthrax vaccination program, hundreds of troops refused the vaccine due to perceived health risks or religious concerns — and many of them paid dearly for that decision.

So you are saying that the South Korean government will stop providing special subsidies to their Chaebol ?

Low tax can be in the form of premium land grant, or govt provided healthcare for workers.

Why is it 'disinformation' when the Iranians do it, but public relations when US companies do it ? or better yet 'spreading freedom and democracy' when the US government does the same.

You do know what in 2021, you have to pay for water even water ?

Unless you are super rich, you can't afford to do open source.

I don't understand why India does not just have a Gitee type separate github.

Not like the US gives India much.

India should just go it's own way, and use it's use of English as a weapon to expand Indian businesses wherever there is a presence of American, UK, Canadian, Australian business, and shut down access to it's own market.

All the contribution ( open source ) gets used by US companies.

It's not 'charity', if the other party misuses it.

would be a good thing IMO.

Central Banks will finally get their hyperinflation.

> Luckily, Canada will be one of the biggest winners of global warming. Most of their land mass is not arable today, but it will be tomorrow.

Do you think a lot of plants grow in Saudi Arabia ?

Do you think, just because you do software, you understand agricultural sciences ?

All the warming is actually going to make it harder to farm in already existing areas.Frozen land that has thawed, would lack the soil type to grow anything of value.

I have more respect for Afghan Freedom Fighters "Taliban" than McKinsey and their MBA drones.

At least the Taliban stand for something and have the courage to put their lives where their mouth is, as Nassim Talib would say - skin in the game.

The cost of Real Estate in Russia / Eastern Europe is 20,000 USD / apartment, with 8% central bank interest rates.

I see prices in US/UK/Canada dropping to those levels.

[ If you don't think my pricing model is accurate, please mark my comment and we will talk in 2040. ]

deflationary / inflationary have precise meaning in macroeconomics.

when JPow says deflationary, what he means is general fall in demand.

It could "look" inflationary to a wage earner, if he loses his job, his saving account returns 1%, and the cost of products spiral out of control ( causing a fall in demand from JPow's perspective ).

inflationary conditions like those in the 1970s are unlikely as most countries are quite developed these days, and general increase in price in developed countries doesn't mean prices are increasing everywhere for all products.

> There is no built-in fairness

Wage equilibrium around the world is inevitable with the rapid increase in integrated markets and improvement in telephony technology.

What this means for workers is far less important that what it means for capitalists.

We talk about race to the bottom for workers, completely ignoring race to the bottom for landlords / corporations and governments.

landlords around the world have to now compete on a much more even footing.

Rise of the corporate sector in China / Russia / Africa puts deflationary pressure on developed countries.

Governments that do not offer much, would watch the young and skilled flee to live under better government structure.

Taxes generally distorts incentives and lead to misallocations of resources.

It's better to let the prices do the talking with caps on retail prices ( barrier function ).

generators that can keep the lights on during peak demand get better "credit score" in the form of matched investment loans at lower interest rates.

generators that can keep their price low and stable during peak demand ( on retail ) get matched prices to the highest priced utility.

So during peak demand :

- G1 charges 0.7 USD / kWh

- G2 charges 1.0 USD / kWh

G1 gets paid 0.3 USD / kWh by the state, giving them strong incentive to find cheaper ways to meet peak demand.

Why wont G1 just jack it up to 1 USD ?

because retail would notice, why not switch to G2 if G1 and G2 are charging the same amount ?

---------------------------

There is another simple policy that the state can adopt.

Create 3 tiers of power demand ( each hour is put in one of the bins ):

- Demand Min, Demand Avg, Demand Max.

- whatever the price is at each tier, the state pays a small surcharge.

- DM ( 0% ), DA ( 2% ), DM ( 5% ).

This way nobody is unnecessary penalized, and everybody has the correct incentive to play along.
