Is there a relationship between the colors on the graphs? Every graph has different value scale. Hard to compare values between graphs, which is the whole point of the article.

If fold (a concurrent reduce) is used instead of foldl (a sequential reduce), then the mapping function can be pushed down and applied concurrently to the various elements. A generic mechanism can then be used for dispatching concurrent operations. These functional operation are composed of first mapping (and/or) filtering and then reducing.
I am from the sub-continent. What you said is actually a good thing. There are lots of Guptas (and Vermas and Sharmas and other north-indian surnames).
In India Guptas marry other Guptas (or Sharmas or Vermas or other surnames, BUT there is marriage within the community).

Here is a thought: Is there a correlation between bone marrow match and genetic closeness? If there is, it would be a good idea to specifically target people who are from the same community as Amit back in India as well as in the US.
In Indian society, marriage is often within tightly knit communities. What if we track-down people who share second names with Amit's Father and Mother (maiden second name). Would then, the probably of finding a match in such people increase?
My undergrad background is in EE and good amount of research work with compilers in grad school. I am apprehensive about working on low-level software because the state-of-art in commercial OS development in smart-phones always lags a few years behind desktop or high-end systems. The software problems have already been solved by other folks.
Example, Low-level software is poorly designed from a software engineering point of view and its problems plainly evident over multiple hardware product cycles.
What sort of position are you applying for at Qualcomm and more importantly what sort of job are you interested in? Curious because most of Qualcomm's work is way below the abstraction level of the "average" HN audience (I work there)
