"ghosting" just means ending all interaction without warning. not necessarily in the context of a relationship. one can ghost a job, a friend, or even someone selling things on craigslist.
ok. people can be offended by things that weren't intended to offend them. this does happen from time to time.
buy why would the speaker withdraw instead of contacting the event organizers? if it bothered her, she wouldn't necessarily have to go into any detail as to why she found it offensive. she should just chew them out for this debacle and threaten to withdraw if they don't alter the image.
this whole thing seems like a poor choice by the event organizers, followed by a poor reaction from a speaker, which led to a poor response from the organizers.
you aren't automatically "right" just because the other guy is wrong.
my speculation is that these talks are specifically in regard to tracking some biometric that the current line of apple watches doesn’t yet have sensors for.
maybe we need to re-evaluate free speech protections to bring them into alignment with today’s world, where certain corporations can be (arguably) more powerful than governments
google glass wasn’t really AR the same way that arkit is.
glass was more of a novelty camera you wore on your face. it was extremely unfashionable, and quickly became associated with “people trying to record you” and invasion of privacy in general.
i think if apple releases some kind of headset, it will look more like regular eyewear. it will also unquestionably be for augmented reality. society probably won’t conflate it with someone trying to snap candid shots like glass.
hot air balloons use hot air (which is less dense than cool air) not helium.
they are open by design, unlike dirigibles. hot air balloons increase altitude by adding more hot air via a burner, and decrease altitude by letting the air diffuse out through holes in the top of the balloon.
not in the bay area, but a US startup where i once worked found quite a few candidates by scouring stackoverflow and contacting people who consistently gave valuable responses.
