Let’s keep this chain going: Your viewpoint on this company using it is what shows a massive misunderstanding of the market.
Clearly, people are using it successfully and enjoying it (or other similar products). Just because you don’t like it it doesn’t change the reality of the situation.
Thank you so much for saying this. I had no idea until I read your comment and immediately opened the view menu. I am blown away I didn’t know about this after over 10 years of using LO...
This is very cool! I’ve recently started using my wife’s old Kindle for reading the pfSense book and the Google SRE Handbook and have been loving the fact that it isn’t a bright screen or filled with distractions.
This is a great idea that I’ll be trying out with a couple technical blogs.
Don’t forget that part of what’s wrapped into that premium is excellent support & warranty along with the development of firmware and Pop!_OS. It’s more than just the hardware. It’s ensuring you can rely on that hardware to work end to end.
I can’t agree with this enough. I’d love to hear more about how to accomplish what you’re asking in the current state of the fediverse. I’ve been reading into it but am not sure how to use my own instance as my “who I am” and “where I am from” while not allowing others to be from my “home” yet still safely connecting and conversing with others.
It’s marketed as easy, but once you start digging into the details, it quickly becomes more complex than I was expecting.
I’ve been looking into Mastadon, Pixelfed, and Matrix to use in this way, but it seems pointless since I don’t want to host my friends and family’s content, and they’re not going to sign up for some random odd sounding instance. I’m then left with an empty social network or communication tool that’s little more than a tech demo.
In computer programming, a “solution” to a problem is in essence, a structured framework of thought.
As an example, why are there many different programming languages? Well in addition to various other reasons, for the sake of solving problems in a new or different way of thinking.
Is youth constantly reinventing solutions to already solved problems due to amnesia, or are they perhaps creating new ways to reason about already identified problems?
Just because you saw the problem first doesn’t buy you the right to providing the only solution.
Computer science is unique in that it is art as much as science. Allowing for multiple frameworks of thought on a solution allows for the best solution to rise to the top.
If we are still seeing an influx of new and interesting solutions to existing problems, perhaps our field isn’t as mature as we’d like to think it is.
Wow what an arrogant person. I was originally interested, but in reading that comment chain, all I heard was, “I don’t care what you think. My way is clearly the most superior way and you are less than for thinking any other way could possibly be valid.” That’s my cue to stay as far away as possible from a project, and it would be a shame to have such a daft and stubborn coworker for which I’m thankful I don’t!
An equal and opposing argument:
Email patches? You’re going to make me send an email patch? I can’t tell if you’re joking or serious... you’re... serious? Shall I write my patch into the computer via morse code as well? How could you possibly expect someone to take the time to jump through all the hoops that your massive ego and nostalgia for the past requires?
Having just taken a brief look at your link, it seems your link does more to discredit NLP than justify it. How did you come across it, how did you vet it before subscribing to it, and how has your experience applying it been?
I relate to this so much. We are meant to adapt to our climate. Why do we resist so much? I ended up quoting osha regulation to ensure coworkers don’t turn the heat down below 68 degrees Fahrenheit. One coworker set it at 60 degrees at one point early this spring when it was a pleasant temperature outside. I biked in in shorts and a T-shirt and was shivering at my desk.
