i really like this guys thoughts on looking at the fundamentals of video games and disectining what they really are. there are a lot of good points. but jesus christ this guy is so brainwashed with liberal politics i can barely read the damn thing.
"Few women, for example, are going to play a video game with terrible portrayals of women. They say things like 'they insult me/my demographic.'"
so oblivion was popular with mostly men because it depicted females terribly? show me one example. perfect dark was popular mostly among men because it depicted women terribly? skyrim didnt have enough strong nord women? morrowind was filled with female tropes? skinny dunmer in slutty g strings in every town? there is one strip club in vivec, yes. but i dont think women bought the game and then returned it because they found out about the strip club.
yeah, there are some games like dead or alive or street fighter that have women who are well endowed. but you dont see people saying that women dont watch movies because every female actor in every movie ever is well endowed, and they are. or because most heroes are men. thats ridiculous.
believe me, im more of a feminist than most people. well endowed women in movies and video games, posters and bill boards, are poison in our society. this focus and obsession with perfect looks and thin figures creates a very unhealthy environment for little girls growing up. comparing yourself and rating yourself all the time must have a terrible impact on girls. and there are numerous other ways in which society fucks over females. but while i am a feminist, i am also allergic to bullshit. perhaps the worst combination ever in this day and age. and people bringing down the whole video game industry and saying that women dont play games because of sexist representations of women is pretty much bullshit. its like anita sarkisian saying that hitman was a game about murdering women. its a topic that attracts a lot of bullshit.
on an unrelated note: how could this female friend of his enjoy bonding with her female companion when she doesnt like swords or fighting or anything like that? what did she do? sit around clicking on the same conversation options over and over again? she must have, at some point, enjoyed going on quests with her and fighting with her. so if you take out the fighting, you just get a movie where you go along, discover more of the plot slowly and maybe talk to your companion about things. in other words a thinly veiled movie.
