Chaos theory and all but my career in tech doesn’t happen without haxor economist. My Econ major collided with it somehow and a year later ended up with a CS degree.
Perhaps obviously this is the same technique that enables ACR on TVs.
It occurs to me that Shazam has such a better reputation online because the intent and consent of the user is honored.
It makes me wonder if there couldn’t be an implementation on TVs that is similar and actually is a net positive for consumers. Basically would customers actually like TV ACR if the data wasn’t just going to sell more ads?

Conan really handled that disaster with tremendous grace and it paid immediate dividends. I can’t really think of a similar situation in popular culture. It is a good reminder of how to handle oneself especially during turmoil.

Interesting read but that part really made me question my own sanity. It’s probably just lost in translation.
One theory I saw argued the punch card size was the reason for 80x24. But why were punch cards that size? They were designed off of the cards used for the census. Why were the census cards that size? Because they were modeled after the dollar bill size.
I do love thought experiments like this but do believe they’re insatiably unresolvable.
Thanks for doing the detective work for your friends on mobile. This fact severely diminishes the message of this medium. I’ll check for myself later; but until then, I will hope it leverages the techniques it describes.
