I did receive the email they claim to have sent and there was also a banner on top of 1Password for a few days prior to the change notifying you that it was happening and linking to the relevant Blog post.
New reddit just gives me a `Oops, something went wrong, please try again later.` error. Old reddit gives a 502 error. Status page claims all systems are OK (they are not)
Most (but not all) services that use 2FA allow you to set up backup codes so you can recover your password. There are plenty of options for non-smartphone token generators available. It would depend on your needs and what is available to you.
