The answer is yes, since Satoshi's paper back in 2008 a whole subset of CS research has propped up just on consensus algorithms. Other alternatives are simply to switch to a PoS style of consensus, which without a doubt has it's own set of tradeoffs. Currently Ethereum is planning to switch to PoW/PoS system where the amount of computation on the PoW is drastically reduced from the current level of difficulty i.e. There essentially having a PoW/PoS model where the PoW is just like HashCash it's purpose isn't to do consensus but stop "spam".

By the very nature of being Turing Complete it can do anything any other Turing Complete language can. I didn't claim anything about ease of use...or really any wild claim at all, except maybe a DAO being controlled by an AI..oh well. My point explicitly is ETH is a Turing Complete decentralized runtime.

If you want to build a better language for interfacing with the VM your free to do so.

By the very nature of your argument if a Turing-complete blockchain isn't inherently worth something than a stack-based language which isn't Turing complete is certainly worthless.

I feel like your arguing with me for the sake of arguing? What's your point ETH isn't perfect, so what, it's relatively new tech which is exploring an interesting problem. The fact it's valued X _may be_ a fair evaluation or even undervalued given it's impact. The upside being possibly a DAO controlled by an AI efficiently providing resources to humanity in a way human's can't given traditional power structures. Or maybe fiat isn't so bad and we don't want robot overlords so we scrap it all. At the end of the day who cares, as long as your smart about the money you've invested into to the ecosystem you won't be hurt by a Black Swan in the cryptosphere. I think anyone working on ETH up to Vitak would have the same sentiment.

Without being too facetious, do you have anything to contribute as to why you might think dropping meat, fish, and eggs from your diet would be detrimental?

The benefits of eliminating meat include reduced markers of inflammation within the body. Reduction of cholesterol. Changes in gut microbiome which as the emerging science is describing may have a more important impact on mood and cognition than we previously thought. Lengthening of telomeres. Oh and how about making the single most impactful change an individual can make to reduce climate change.

From my understanding of the subject the only real downside from eliminating meat or reducing it substantially is the reduction in essential B vitamins provided. This is widely recognized by those who promote a plant-based diet and the solution is to simply supplement with a super B vitamin supplement.

So what are you smoking?

While this is true it highlights a major misgiving in the attitude with regards to the reality of socioeconomic status. If your poor, yes you theoretically have the ability to utilize those resources, but what good are those resources if you don't have a conducive environment to engage in study?

Lower socioeconomic status is correlated with lower stages of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. Self-actualization i.e reaching one's potential is more dependent on the satisfaction of basic and psychological needs, which are generally more accessible to those of privilege.

It's not just about resources being available, it's resources being available and making sure people have the opportunity to engage in those resources.
