It's not about subsidizing, but about support for projects they deem important. Gnome is just one of many projects. And they have to apply for funding. It's not simply given to some projects. I'm from germany and use Gnome. So supporting Gnome is a good thing from my point of view.

I think germany is already doing something great with the Sovereign Tech Fund [0]. The support(ed) a lot of OSS projects so far.[1]

I often think the same about people I (get to) know

I thought there's a fix incomming. But I can't find a link right now. Something about exactly the issue with "big green accept button", "small half hidden reject button".

If it's more than a million, it is "optimisation" not evasion. And it is mostly legal

I meant it's legit that the bank gets suspicous. Sorry I'm not a native speaker

Edit: ok, it's crypto. See posts bellow somewhere

Can you say something about the sums? I (in germany) got my rent money every month from my parents while I was a student. No problem. I withdraw something like 100€ per week for bars, backeries and other small expenses and I never ever had any problems.

It buffles me that so many people are jumping to conclusions although you provided so little context.

If you have a cash inflow of 50k per month and withdrow that much, the bank may think you pay people in cash, avoiding taxes (like on construction sites). Which is totaly legit IMO. But again, you gave almost no context..

What is your actual problem? You send 10€ to your mother and your bank asks your where you got them from and why you send them to your mum?

> This isn't the case, at least in the US. Trash from trash bins is almost exclusively dealt with locally, whether in landfills or incinerators.

It's exactly the same in Germany. I was talking about plastic.

In germany we recycle paper and "some" plastic. But all I've seen/read is, it's a miniscule amount. Like greenwashing. Most of it get's just shipped somewhere else with some super shady "we recycle it for you, so you can can wash you hands in innocence" deals. And IIRC it's the same for the US. During Covid there were numerous chinese container ships waiting on the US coast after unloading, to load "recycling material", because waiting was cheaper than driving back empty. (they just dump it somewhere in the end)

We put it in trash bins. Companies with contracts collect it. It get's shipped to asia or africa for recycling. Job done. Recycled ... It is dumped where ever it is convinient for the contracting company

But I totaly undersand your point. For me, it would also be real work to not put waste in the trash bin, but to drive somewhere to dispose it

> That sounds like a classic example of doing something and making the situation worse (aka almost every regulation ever)

Such a weird take.. without regulation we would still have child labor, slave labor, cancer causing shit in basically everything, no seatbelts, even worse corruption in politics and companies, .. list goes on ..

Same goes for sunglasses. I have a really diffcult time talking to someone without seeing thier eyes. Not beeing sure if thier attention is on me or somewhere else is really strange.

My expierience is totally the opposite. Every time I have to touch a make file, I don't understand shit and hate my life. I have to google basically everything. Syntax, commands, etc.. Obscure Syntax rules I forget when not touching the build files for more than a week.. same goes for basically every build system I ever used, except Cargo

I don't see how then % number means anything. Humans and apes have 4% difference. It depends on thebkind of difference, not the number of different genes

Not at home. If I remember I post one tomorrow. It's only on my Desktop. I have zero adds on mobile. Looks like they are trying a few different versions

It realy depends. Looks like they have a few A/B versions active. Some still work with uBlock, some dont

YouTube already does exatly this for me. If uBlock origin is active it loads the base site, but all video tiles are just grey squares and the video titles below are just grey bars.

Before:

* EU product 115€

* China product 100€

After:

* EU product 115€

* China product 115€

So chinese product can't just outcompete on price. And the money may actually sty in the EU.

It's Förderung, not Forderung. Two totally different words.

Forderung: demand, requirement Förderung: financial support (what you mean)

I guess the price spikes happen because demand spikes in these situations..
