Let's say a VC investor invests $500,000 into a startup, I don't think they'd be keen to know that $50,000 of it gets passed straight to you and doesn't go toward building the product.
Having said that, if it's an arrangement worked out with the VC beforehand, then it could possibly work.
If we're talking about acquisition rather than investment, then that's an entirely different matter of course.
Total agree with your second point, what scenario in life are we in where all the people we socialise with are our own exact age? If anything, homeschooled children become naturally better at socialising because they're forced to make friends with people of different ages (both younger and older).
Note: there are definitely some weirdo homeschooling families that would be an exception to this!
I think the most compelling argument surely, is that it's just more fun. You actually feel like you're driving, it makes it more of an active experience.
Recently sold a manual car I owned for about 12 years, upgraded to a newer car which is automatic (only because there was no option for manual). Man, I miss driving a manual!
It's not the 'latest techniques', but tried and true consultative selling (being a doctor, finding out what's wrong and figuring out a solution for your potential customer, rather than using sales tricks).
"...because of their Israeli origin..." I realise why you've said this, but when you take a step back, surely you can see this kind of sentiment is bordering on anti-Semitism?
Actually, you'd be keeping people in prison who you know have a disregard for the law, and decide for themselves what they think is okay. They are criminals, they broke the law at the time, and as such, are people that deserve to spend time in prison.
Of course, that's a very broad way to think of it. I'm sure for this particular topic there are lots of cases of outright discrimination which means people are serving sentences for marijuana-related laws that just aren't helpful to society at all (probably detrimental).
So, you may be right regarding this particular law, however, I think it is a very dangerous precedent to simply pardon anyone who committed a crime, for which that act is now legal.
If someone believes something that's currently illegal should be made legal, there are non-anarchist ways to deal with it than simply disregarding authority and committing a crime.
I think it's more the lifestyle that coding can lead to, right? e.g. if coding leads to a lifestyle of poor exercise, sleep quality and diet, or a combination of all of those, then that can obviously lead to conditions you've mentioned above.
(note – not trying to diagnose your symptoms, just responding to your comment about coding being physically tolling!)
Aghh, this is what it feels like to have a migraine with aura, except that with a migraine your vision looks like this no matter what you're looking at.
Sorry I missed the 'later in life' in your original comment. Either way, I'm pretty sure the author of this article didn't have that condition in mind when he penned the sentence.
When that happens, it's most likely because that person has a weak immune system, correct? So what evidence do we have to say that person wouldn't have died from the next disease to come along (e.g. diarrhoea or simply catching a cold and dying from pneumonia?).
Just a question... kind of playing the devil's advocate, but I think it's usually ignored by most people when talking about vaccination.
