Same upbringing - sugary cereals were a treat, rarely purchased.
Once after I had moved out to my own apartment, my local grocery store had a massive sale on Captain Crunch, like 50 cents a box, it was insane.
My roommate and I filled my car with them, guessing 100 boxes of cereal. It’s all we ate for about two weeks before we found ourselves stuck with about half of our purchase sitting in the storage closet for the remainder of our lease.
Still can’t touch it to this day, grosses me out.

This is my favorite podcast.
I was actually listening to the Chex Quest announcement episode today!
Is this actually about cereal. I can’t tell from what I’ve heard so far on the latest episode..
My people!
"Cereal"
When I started earning my own income I went to a grocery store and walked up and down the cereal aisle, marveling at how, if I wanted to, I could buy one box of every sweet cereal on display.
I can no longer eat any cereal. At my age it no longer agrees with me, gastrointestinally. I miss it. Sometimes I'll say "f*#k it" and buy a box. Like a bottle of alcohol, it's wonderful going down, but the next day is filled with regret.
