A rewrite is like moving house. In the new house, it doesn't have things the way you had everything set up "just right" is the old house. But you now have an extra bedroom and bathroom and no longer have a black mold problem, and most importantly, the opportunity to do things in a new way with hindsight learned from the old house.

The move period has a lot of work ahead to get it back to livable, but also the opportunity to do better than just "livable".

The introduction of AI for rewrites is the equivalent of zero interest loans to housing, reducing the cost of a move. It doesn't mean "keep moving home", it means there is one less factor to worry about if you need to.

Fine for my closed source stuff, but my open source work is specifically meant to be viewable, even by non-technical people doing recruitment or looking over my portfolio.

I've put up with a lot of stuff, but this would be my personal last straw.

Yeah, a bunch of the worst free riders and malicious consumers all in one place.

All they're really missing is Oracle and Bambu Lab.

There are two companies that I want want to work for. Oxide is one of them. Many places I'm still willing to work for, but in a more neutral way. They're just mostly not hiring for my role/location as far as I can tell, so it is what it is.

I've been hearing that HPE are on a push lately with larger enterprises trying to encroach on VMWare during their pricing changes, might be them.

I used to be able to view maps in 3D. Not anything fancy, just a tilt shift. This year I noticed the feature appears to be gone. Also, if I want to see my home city with an up to date overhead view from this side of 2023 to see what has been built lately, I have to go look up Sentinel imagery.

I would claim it has indeed become worse.

Anyone who isn't currently own a piece of who is winning by the current model. Basic disruption theory, if the game isn't going your way, change the game.

Isn't this just a response to the Friday drop which happened around 5 AM Saturday South Korea time, well after their Friday bell?

The video is below the second paragraph. Maybe check your ad blocker, particularly if you're swallowing videos hosted on twitter.

Here's a video from this year from a French General that is more up to date on the current vibes https://www.youtube.com/shorts/XQJ5YEsNQws

And for some more data than anecdote, the current polling where the US is now 14 points behind China in net approval. https://news.gallup.com/poll/707945/china-edges-past-global-...

Doesn't feel very far off from the money circularly trading hands between Nvidia, Oracle, OpenAI etc.

And if I didn't tolerate it from the government then I shouldn't tolerate it here either, for the sake of consistency.

The thing which is seemingly missing from this is their current largest hurdle emerging from the V2 testing. The heat shields keep failing.

I guess the focus is going to be on getting stuff up, rather than back down. Thus the Starlink and data center plays, not human space exploration.

I assume because the Mars goal is as good as dead with what they're finding out about the complexities of building Starship that they can barely get it back down to this planet, never mind back from a second one.

This "space datacenters is more important than colonizing the universe" thing is just to deflect from what would be an inevitable failure because if they do this pivot, they can push out the timeline for that further than the original 2026 on Mars goal that they are about to wildly overshoot.
