Ask it to generate a completely bananas game idea and it will easily do it. Prototyping any type of game with simple graphics has been solved since many generations of models back. Claiming it's because it has that game in its training data is nonsense.

It's incredibly childish and everyone can see it. It's absurd to state otherwise and it's obvious that you only say so because the post aligns with your agenda.

Won't using it eat up the whole quota immediately forcing you to pay API prices anyway?

Why are you directing the question at me? Obnoxious behavior, and your initial "gotcha" is just nonsense on a similar level as "why don't AI companies just clone all SaaS if the models are so good".

Picking 2012 feels arbitrary to fit the author's thesis and age. I don't see much difference between 2012 and now. Late 90s and now feel like two different worlds though.

They have consistently been proven right. The only thing failing has been the plateau claimers. If anything, it has improved much faster than the optimistic predictions.

LLM versioning is entirely feelings driven. The ideal versioning is probably just names.

I think this kind of "hard work" is a perfect fit for AI, and something where the complexity for a human is incorrectly extrapolated to LLMs.

Tirelessly wading through heaps of specifications and documentation with very clear goal definitions is hard for a human but easy for an AI. Meanwhile, taking UX and edge cases into account in a business application is easy for a human but hard for an AI.

The OpenAI moderation endpoint is free and it doesn't count toward the usage limit.

Not the gotcha you think it is considering how common fake loaders are in all application development. They're inserted for a reason, but that's a different topic. We're talking about pure animations here, not loading screens.

Setting animations to 0x is famously broken on Android with the UI jumping up and down on transitions. It's a litmus test to spot people falsely claiming they have it disabled without realizing it outs them.

Finally someone not roleplaying. You're the first person who acknowledges the flakiness of the dev options. People are self-reporting when they claim they set it to 0x without realizing it's unusable due to the bugs.

Most people with that opinion keep using apps and devices with animations, but thinking it would be better without them. Very few actually torture themselves like that in practice.

Which the majority of people think is a horrible experience. There's even a sibling comment in this thread pointing that out: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48518721

Play any game with good UI and you will see animations used everywhere. Instant transitions are only good in theory.

That was not my point. Maybe we interpret "can't do their job" differently. That said, outside of HN I don't know anyone writing code by hand anymore except people that can't use it due to compliance or work on PLC stuff.

> Everyone agrees AI can't do their job, so it ends up doing everyone else's.

In real life I haven't met a single programmer who doesn't think AI can do their job.

If someone would actually say that I would immediately think they have hubris and overestimate their skills.

How good can a rhyming poem about a haircut where every word starts with S be?

It absolutely damages the argument. Not sure why you think your question is a gotcha.

I think you're in an interesting space where there's a real opportunity to create something fresh. When people are actively looking for alternatives it will be easier to break out of the established norms.

What does anti-AI mean? Don't really see anything about it in the design doc except "no AI copilot".
