Switch to OpenLayers e.g https://openlayers.org/en/latest/examples/index.html?q=mapbo... (the example can use Mapbox but any vector tiles styles are fine).
It can consume Mapbox GL JS styles if using ol-mapbox-style project https://www.npmjs.com/package/ol-mapbox-style#olms. A bit slower but except this, most of the things are supported.
PS: fine if you don't use 3D
