Among other things, turbulent currents of liquid iron in the Earth's core can make the core drift eastward or westward, which causes the crust and mantle to turn slower or faster. Same thing with the strength of the jet stream.

The vote for independence was on July 2. Then it took them two days to hash out the wording. They printed the first batch of broadsheets in Philadelphia and sent them to the state capitals. This batch was reprinted in NH a few weeks later.

No, the Baudot / Western Union mechanical teletype code assignments were worked out in the late 1800s and early 1900s. This was later developed into ASCII. Computer keyboards came much later. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baudot_code

“You mean we all came from Earth?” said Nikolai, unbelieving. “Yes,” the holo said kindly. “The first true settlers in space were born on Earth—produced by sexual means. Of course, hundreds of years have passed since then. You are a Shaper. Shapers are never born.” “Who lives on Earth now?” “Human beings.” “Ohhhh,” said Nikolai, his falling tones betraying a rapid loss of interest. --- Twenty Evocations (1984) Bruce Sterling

"The third turtle lied" seems to be from a collection of logic puzzles called "Mathematical Circles". (although that was not in a 'turtles all the way down' context)

[wasn’t aware of this] That's odd. Anyone familiar with the history of anonymous email services and remailers would know about the penet, cotse, and cypherpunk communities in the 1990s. It was a fertile field. Odd that you haven't bumped into anyone from that space.

It supposedly has something to do with de-aligning water molecules via microwave RF and affecting surface tension and gas exchange. Sounds like fringe woo. They partnered with Themo Fisher at one point, but TF has taken that page down.
