> A company that behaves like this in one area, cannot be trusted in any area.

A company locking down their phone platform cannot be trusted with their laptop OS.

Do unified memory CPUs suffer from the same memory shortages as normal memory?

I guess they're just welding the memory to the CPU chip, but still curious.

There are apps that show an overlay of moving dots on your phone which help with motion sickness.

E.g. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stormtech....

Did you not read:

> And we know that the world without online ads is perfectly possible and livable, since we all lived through 1996.

We're in an information crisis. Most people don't know what is true or false anymore. Google and Meta didn't make it better and in fact might have contributed to it. I'd say let's go back to 1996.

Yeah, but why don't we ever hear any MEPs talk about it like that?

And what about the addictive design of advertisements that keeps us hooked on consuming more and more stuff?

It's still wishful thinking. A better strategy is to not root for one player and vote (with your wallet) for more competition.

You think Apple is a saint, but they have a completely locked down mobile computing/phone platform. Why the trust in them doing what is best for the user?

If you like this make sure you watch:

which explains that magnetism is just an emergent property when you start from Coulomb's law and relativity.

For export, other countries could require a "dumb" car, to which domestic companies could add the intelligence.

Anyway, the point is that in the future you cannot own things. Whether that is because of the small market or because of other reasons, that does not matter.
amelius

No, but I'm sure I'll agree with a lot of things in it.

In the future, hardware is only for big companies to own. At least it seems we're heading that way.

I don't want to "drop".

I want to push. And then edit. Commit. And push again.
