Desktop Linux is criminally underrated now, it's just so good. Latest Ubuntu LTS turns any computer into a free Mac in the sense of a Unixlike system where everything just works, but somehow we are still joking about the year of the Linux desktop and "i use arch btw".
It's amazing how shitty this space is. Every day I have to unplug and replug the HDMI cable and I think of how many thousands of people every day are wasting a few seconds to do this. How can computers be so good and so shit at the same time for so many years is beyond me. There are certain things everyone puts up with that just don't make sense.
It's perfectly safe to sit in a room full of asbestos insulation like it is to sit in front of any computer from the 90s (leaded solder) but it's still good to ban asbestos just like it was probably good to switch to RoHS solder.
When your house has termites, it's quite correct to say that the termites don't care about the house, even though each individual termite cares deeply about having an infinite supply of wood to chew on.
Bricks and minifigs = franchise that sells used legos
Dad of Oregon man had $100k-200k of Star wars legos
One store agreed to sell them on consignment
Something shady happened with the store and he ended up with no Legos and almost no money for the Legos
Reckless ben = YouTuber who agreed to essentially prosecute this in the court of public opinion, due to the legal fees exceeding the value of the Legos
Personally I think if he did that people wouldn't pay attention. My experience is that when you complain to people about digital rights they just glaze over unless you walk them through all the ins and outs and the implications.
