(1) Normie-fication of internet. Regular people who aren't necessarily enthusiats have a tendency to want or expect the internet to mirror their daily life; they're not escaping into something better, they're just using internet as extension of their normal life.
(2) An obsession with the self. Everything on social platforms today is self-promotion. "Showing off," to put it simply. Naturally, when the bulk of your internet activity is focused on self-promotion rather than pursuing an intellectual interest, you are naturally exposed to criticism. Some of that criticism will be harsh or inconsiderate, but frankly, that is just to be expected and it's always been this way.
In terms of practical, "what can we do," there's only one thing I can think of: getting rid of identities. The identity-obsessed, self-promotional social platforms will always be doomed. There is no way to "make people be nice." There is only a means to control the extent to which identity is exposed.
I agree with the overall sentiment, but the idea of males and females going through life in exactly the same manner (without an implied role) is quite novel in human history. There are likely unsolved problems here. That females seem to openly suggest being educated apart from males, after extensive lobbying to the opposite effect, is an almost humorous illustration.
> When it's on the basis of race, everyone understands that's due to systematic racism...
Only modern leftists "understand" this. Others recognize that attributing all unfavorable statistics to generic yeah-but-they're-oppressed-ism is quite a leap.
Eventually ideas like this always eat theirselves. The "speaking at conference" meme is now thoroughly eaten; there's a cottage industry of bullshit around the whole thing. People do it now to advance their careers and achieve an extremely modest amount of e-fame. Most talks are pointless. It's people giving talks to give talks about helping other people give takls about giving talks for their boss's arbitrary stipulation that giving talks is a required feature for "team lead" engineers, etc..
It turns out that Germany has been adversarial toward the US throughout its history. This"German call for European unity against the US" is almost identical to their opposition in the Spanish-American War.
