This perspective is far from universal. Obviously, HN readers are a super-technical strata of society, and people here have little trouble understanding the concept and usage of cryptocurrency. The vast majority of the general population is nowhere near this level of technical proficiency. Just downloading and installing a software is firmly out of grasp for lots of people, probably more than half of them if I had to guess.

I'm not sure the example you provide really applies to the situation. Roll cages are mandatory in race cars, so effectively the contrary to "isn't used by professionals" . Also, they can be used in normal road cars. Granted, they're inconvenient but still provide added safety.

An example that comes to mind is Continuously Variable Transmissions (CVT). Most types of motorsports avoid CVTs for reasons of weight, unreliability and decreased repairability. However, for normal road cars, CVTs are very widespread and they do the job just fine (until they don't, but that's another story!)

They could use further taxes but that would only negatively affect the poorer strata of population, as we are currently seeing with record high gas prices.

I have a hard time believing that big corporations can be pressured with this kind of policies, seeing that they can just pass on the extra costs down the line to the customers.

Very sad story, I feel awful for the family and friends of the man who was murdered in such an incomprehensible way... I understand defending your property and loved ones, but to shoot down a non-threatening, unarmed man, who was not even trespassing?
