The low fat version of Oat-ly has no oil added. It’s not like the company is giving you no choice but to buy a product with “controversial” ingredients.
You need to make more than two to break the trend. Everyone person needs to have three or more for our growth metrics! Has it been three months since birth? Why haven’t you started on the next one yet?
Maybe it’s challenging the idea that these values are most associated with white Americans as if other ethnicities and races don’t value and embody them.
A lot of times, when black Americans speak up about racism, they are dismissed and told they wouldn’t have a problem if they valued nuclear families and hard work etc. before even checking to see if black individuals who do embody these values struggle with systemic racism or not.
The admission lawsuit against Harvard revealed that they do have quotas for U.S. states to ensure that every state is represented in each admitted class. The university even lowers SAT/ACT and GPA requirements to ensure students from these less populous (Montana, Iowa, Dakotas,Idaho etc) and sometimes lower quality school systems (Mississippi) can get into the school and have a chance against applicants from California, Texas, New York etc.
It’s like the nuclear arms treaty. If one company doesn’t ban these accounts, it can gain all the users who subscribe to these people and benefit. All companies agree to potentially lose these users, so no one profits from doing the so called “wrong thing”.
Same thing with mask use in airlines. Some companies do not want to enforce mask use until all airlines do it, because they do not want customers opposed to masks leaving them for competitors that do not require masks on flights.
I think a pay increase depends on the needs of the company. If your company is looking to hire someone with the job as you in the higher cost of living area, then a transfer and pay bump would be potentially easier than hiring a new employee. Now, if the company isn’t looking to employ more people in the high cost of living area I don’t see them paying someone more if that type of salary was not in their budget.
They say cost of living, but it’s more cost of labor. If you are a software engineer on this island, and the salaries for software engineering jobs there are a third of your salary because there is no tech industry, you will be paid significantly less. You don’t have opportunities to get a job that pays your old salary or more.
I bet that probably increases the number of visitors visiting for free too. Since, many parents and families may not be able to take a specific day off if they work in low-wage service industry jobs. It’s probably better all around, but has more cost with mailing vouchers.
That makes things worse, but we would still have a problem with the work being done primarily by us tech workers. I wouldn’t place the blame solely on unskilled low-wage workers. I’ve worked with Ivy League graduates that think I am angry when I ask a question and am just confused. The US education system is moderately segregated and many of our most educated students are not taught to be more critical of stereotypes perpetuated in the media.
I can be well represented in the data set, but here people can unwittingly classify my emotions incorrectly due to unconscious bias. What good will the data do if every time, I appear confused, I am labeled and angry?
As someone from a less represented group in tech, I would want to know exactly who is classifying emotions present on the dataset. I don’t want to be mistaken as feeling angry anytime I don’t look happy or sad. There’s definitely unconscious bias to how certain people’s feelings are interpreted that lead to inaccurate perceptions.
The 13th amendment abolished slavery for everyone except prisoners. The fact that migrants are being treated like prison labor is evidence that they are performing slave labor.
