The purpose of the scanning is to just have a different talking point so people will buy the coin. It is a scam like all the others. If they'd just launched it without scanning, would anybody be interested in buying it or even talking about it?

Who knows if they used it or not? Maybe it was setup ready to go and none of their customers used it?

But if they genuinely didn't use any resources, depending on the payment processor, card charge fees are not refunded - Stripe does this.

They should not have any sign, so everybody just presses the button, even though they are automated. This stuff just adds unnecessary confusion.
