Consider ordering online. I see the product in the Uniqlo France store: https://www.uniqlo.com/fr/fr/products/E480814-000/00?colorDi...

Latest Knuth preprint: "Fillomino Densities", dated 2026-07-01

From a previous preprint titled "Claude’s Cycle", dated 2026-02-28 [2]:

It seems that I’ll have to revise my opinions about “generative AI” one of these days. What a joy it is to learn not only that my conjecture has a nice solution but also to celebrate this dramatic advance in automatic deduction and creative problem solving. I’ll try to tell the story briefly in this note.

I discovered a few years ago that a such a wind tunnel facility existed in my area (France), but at a smaller scale. I had the opportunity to visit it. The facility is about 100 years old. What amazed me is not just the facilities (they have various tunnels for different measurements), but how it adapted to customer usages through time as engineering needs evolve. One building was initially designed for seaplanes but has long ago been refurbished for other uses. Another one is used by the French cycling team which has headquarters nearby.

The resason is that only Google bothers to put enough hardware security features to build software on top that allows to make a really secure device that blocks tampering.

EA still hasn't made its EA account malware SteamDeck compatible. I have to spend 30 minutes every few months to enter again my EA account credentials (nowadays I use a dock and a hardware keyboard).

Probably for wired networking.

It looks like he wants his former manager to be fired too. This only gives bad signals to hiring teams.

For access management (sharing the Git-over-ssh hosting for a centralized repo), gitolite adds the little layer.

If you pay a premium price, you're an even more interesting target for others premium brands, so the best target for advertisers. And they are too greedy to leave you alone.

This is becoming a thing in computing because sovereignty suddenly matters in the new context.

France pushes its SecNumCloud standard for critical infrastructure or handling of critical data (ex: health) through law. So, this may not be about pride, but the result is similar.

> Call me when the Fediverse has a search function that actually fucking works.

Actually that's a feature. If search doesn't work, there is less incentive for bots polluting others people searches.

On the other hand, search works so bad than even connecting to people you know on other networks is painful.

Decompilation allows to fork, but scaling the fork and making it maintenable on a long time scale is a technical challenge.

The FSF succeeded at changing the mindset towards more collaboration.

I agree that this also allowed to divert efforts from research on reverse engineering tooling by reducing the needs.

But AI is game changer for reverse engineering, so no secrets will be hidden in binaries.

In a way, this is a merge of an alternate branch of history where RE would be more powerful.

It is good enough to have much fun reading it. About chef photos, in Cook French in America, page 11: no eggs on a breakfast tartine.

As a French, I would like the French version.
