There's such a poetic justice that Sheats, who was a world-class player, also helped design The Who’s Tommy pinball game.

Blue Origin isn't that expensive, at least by nation state standards. Its just if there's no political will for a space program then there will be no space program. Space is a money blackhole for the most part so there's no big incentive to start one especially when governments are busy, ideally, fighting poverty, enforcing law, regulating capitalism, and protecting workers. The USA didn't have its own human rated launch vehicle for years and it wasn't a big deal. Space isn't a compelling target for good reasons and the midcentury space-race was little more than showing off ICBM capabilities between two nations who wanted to murder each other.

I'm glad we've moved to a peaceful and private-public model with BO and SpaceX but its not like every country is failing everyday at getting rockets off the ground. They just don't care that much and know they can buy rocket rides from other nations, the same as buying medicine or arms from them. It just makes a lot more sense to buy space-related services from others than start your own for almost all nations.

I remember old "snowy" tv and absolutely hated it. Bad analog is still a really bad experience, especially with audio. Worse, it never seems to be just "snowy" but the signal goes in and out randomly so it goes from bad to unwatchable quickly and somehow always during important parts of the show. ;) I think people tend to play up idealized versions of analog tv and downplay how bad digital signal issues can be, a bit like how people hold up questionable movie special effects from the 70s and 80s as being great but also think all CGI is fake looking.

I don't think asking people to run a proper antenna is asking too much, especially for all the benefits digital brings in.

>Not his fault the tax rules are broken for the ultra-rich.

This isn't some accidental software defect. The rich write these laws to their benefit. He's part of the class whose fault it absolutely is and considering his political position as a conservative, he advocates and helps keep up the corrupt system he benefits from directly, even if he didn't lobby for this specific tax regulation.

I mean your cat could have chewed through your laptop cable previously.

Your mouse, if using USB-C, is only going to have the current it needs to run. So it'll be super low mw at 5v. Its not going to be doing 240w on it. USB power delivery isnt like your wall outlets, it asks and receives power depending on the need.

>Any other hypotheses?

Other than the obviousness of the new MS being worse than the old MS? Between the major issues Windows 10 has in almost all respects but not limited to shocking privacy issues, the very poor quality of updates, and the hamfisted way Win10 was forced on some users, I suspect we'll be missing the Gates/Balmer years more and more. As someone who has to roll out 100 Win10 workstations, I can't believe the shit I have to jump through to get basic funtionality and how the defaults in terms of start menu items, included apps, privacy, gpo limitations, etc is highly business inappropriate, even with professional volume licenses.

I'm not sure what the "New Microsoft" really means, but from what I've seen its something that has only added hassle to enterprise and chased more people into the loving arms of OSX. Everyone in my social circle now has a mac after toughing out on 7 and giving up on 10. Nadella's run is starting to look like a Marissa Mayer-like run to me. A welcomed change of leadership from the tech press but one that was unable to fix historic problems and also introduced their own new set of problems.

I think meditation's primary effect, perhaps its only noticable effect for most, is lowered anxiety via learning how to focus thought which tends to lead to less worrying and such. Less anxiety means better sleep, earlier bedtimes, less cortisol in the body, etc. Over time these can affect us physically in an beneficial way.

An eight week mediation course shrinks the part of the brain involved in anxiety:

From an anecdotal perspective I found taking a anti-cortisol herb (Rhodiola and Ashwaganda) gave me a comparable, but stronger, effect compared to what 30-45 minutes daily meditation gave me.

Meditation lowers cortisol:

How has your relationship with technology changed, especially in regard to its use politically and socially, as you've gotten older?

> The PS1 had 2MB of RAM, and we had to do crazy things to get the game to fit.

That's what? About $80-100 worth of RAM back then? On a product that sold at $299 (July 1995 pricedrop) that's incredible. Nearly a third of your cost was ram alone.
