There are actually quite a few news search engines. I've tried to include the best and most comprehensive ones on https://www.faganfinder.com/ , although I have since found some more that I haven't reviewed.
I first launched this site in 2001, and I've just (mostly) completed a major update of the main page, i.e. general-purpose information resources. If you find it useful it may justify a tiny portion of the insane amount of time it took to do :-)
