I thought he lost the case?

Football MIGHT be slow enough that you could animate the plays Techmo Bowl style.

It would certainly be fun to attempt it. You might have to mix in some pre-defined animations for "run up the middle", that could do minimal updates like Jersey numbers.

Polls became much less interesting as an Entertainment category once we all had experience with how unreliable they are.

People are going to make jokes about people who cover/steal songs being upset about Ai cover/stealing their songs.

But the article helped me understand exactly how much human originality is required for something to make it over the good guy / bad guy line.

Don't you think their is an opposite of that effect too?

I feel like I can breeze past the easy, time consuming infrastructure phase of projects, and spend MUCH more time getting to high level interesting problems?

Is "CRIME" an acronym?

Or is this actually a law enforcement related example?

I was forced to do this as a developer of Flash websites in the early 00's.

I loved making custom progress bars really fun so people didn't mind watching the huge sites download.

I HATED when they had me mess with the time so that it got to 90% really fast and then spent AGES finishing the last 10%.

By the same logic we could say that there is no safe off-ramp from any diet or exercise protocol.

When the treatment is ceased, the benefits go away.

There is absolutely a market for your LOTR example. I think a kickstarter made LOTR or Harry Potter Interactive applications like you are purposing could charge $1,000 maybe.

And I 100% align with your 90's prediction. What we gained going from Encarta to Wikipedia was amazing, but we shouldn't forget that we lost some things too.

Looks at your profile.

*Thinks of course the creator of Tarsnap was a child prodigy.

Thank you so much for these recommendations.

I'm better now, but these procrastination problems have plagued me my whole life. To the point that I was suicidal while writing my Thesis, I'd spend 10-12 hours in the library every day and accomplish almost nothing except self torture.

I can't imagine how helpful this "un-scheduling" would have been to me at that time.

I consider myself extremely risk averse, and would probably agree with you on most things.

But with unbeatable Major Depression you are dealing with a significant suicide risk, and the risk to your legal status may be worth the benefit to your overall happiness.

People who want to replace a little Prozac with Psilocybin can afford to wait 10-15 years for treatments to become standardized, legal and affordable.

I spent 15 years assuming that I would kill myself someday, and basically all of life was a delaying action to put suicide off as long as possible. So for me taking the plunge into illegal self treatment was worth it. A yearly Ayahusca session for me does more to combat depression that years of therapy and legal medications.

Ya, looks like it got updated again and he doesn't have to make any changes.

Google thinking he was in violation was an error on their part.

Thank you, that's good info. Please report back if you have time to scrape the app and give us that perspective.

Is it easy to scrape the app now that it isn't in the store anymore?

I have a hunch the violation will be something to do with him trying to cut costs on the Google Places API.

It's pretty easy for the developer to believe "whatever they do is legit" when they aren't shown an example of how they violated the policy.

Could you imagine a world where a traffic cop pulled you over, issued you a ticket, and when you asked what you did wrong they said "You violated the policies regarding safe driving and expected behaviors".

Your license is now revoked. All the information required has been provided to you.

So maybe you are a terrible driver who deserves to lose a license, or maybe you just did something like parking in front of a mail box, a behavior you would adjust if you realized it was against the rules.

No one should be expected to have a perfect mental map of the extremely long terms and conditions agreements and how they map to every real word situation.

But can't the airlines then introduce random price spikes into their own algorithm just to abuse Google?

"YouTube content creators" still have the ability to monetize the video content they create in other places, in other ways.

They could do Patreon, make their own products..etc.

These people should think of Youtube as one distributor only, and just like a TV show can move from NBC to Netflix, they should open to change distribution channels whenever it benefits them.

I know the community/audience is on Youtube argument makes this a difficult problem, but I feel like this has been somewhat solved. You can still advertise on Youtube. You can still promote teasers of your brand on Youtube.

Look at Russel Brand right now, he levered iTunes to create a new Podcast, which then became a Premium product that is only accessible from the Luminary app. But that doesn't mean he can't still benefit from iTunes and use it as a sales channel to move his audience over.

I like how you break things down. But serious question, do you get accused of "overthinking it" a lot?
