The best forums still have users and traffic. For instance, for Toyota Land Cruiser owners, the best information has always been at ih8mud. Reddit doesnt hold a candle to Mud for the depth of information available (for that community.)

Did you look at Patagonia Inc. as an example? I wasn't aware of the new book but am more interested in it now.

> the system is designed so that VCs keep winning

The way around that is to not take VC money. There are some (not many) startups that got to unicorn status by bootstrapping and not taking outside money. It's harder, yes, but in a way a more pure effort.

The Mozilla Foundation owns the Mozilla Corporation. The Corporation hires the engineering staff that does the bulk of the work to develop Firefox (the rest are community/volunteer contributors and partners.)

Many here at HN find that site hard to read, not just the original commenter.

> "Flying Geese" paradigm

Can you name any one of these that are successful or prominent? I am not aware of this paradigm.

Apple, if you are reading this, I'm not investing into new hardware until you fix the mess that is Tahoe. My M1 MAX is doing fine atm.

The R1 is a body on frame, so a traditional truck chassis.

This new R2 is a unibody- so more of a car, less so a truck

The famous case I always bring up is the accident with the USS John McCain. The US Navy tried screens but due to this accident and other reasons has gone back to mechanical controls. Cars can have some screens but key controls (HVAC, car safety, windows, etc.) should be mechanical.

Good Riddance to Alan Dye.

Tim Cook- if you do one thing before you retire- promote the right person to fix both MacOS and iOS. They're both in need of a lot of work to fix.

I would argue peak car was a little earlier, maybe the 2000-2010 decade. Fewer screens to fail, analog buttons and dials. Airbags, and ABS for safety but without the additional computers/screens.

I've been on Apple since the 1980s. Apple IIc was my first Apple.

Since a few years ago, I've chosen to stay at least 1 full version behind the current version and I've never regretted that.

Miyake has a line called A-POC which makes clothing out of a single piece of cloth. So it's a product line at IM.
