Some of my most important projects are open sourced under my company's account and this won't show any of them even though I contributed 90% of the code. This only shows my personal side projects that are done for fun. Any chance this could change in the future?

I'm from China and lived in the US for years. I think that Chinese people are way more practical and result driven, and instead Americans tend to follow their hearts more. I agree that there are many different ways to interpret ancient Chinsese philosophy that can lead to totally different conclusions. I disagree that this has anything to do with Chinese government or the increasing amount of Chinese students.

I totally agree! The problem is that sometimes you just can't convince your coworkers. They'll say this XYZ feature is coming sooner or later, they'll argue that abstraction means cleanness. And as future is so uncertain, arguing about what might happen in the future always ends up with no conclusion, and they still think their future-proof approach is worth it.
