Are you talking about using a webcam during meetings or are the people on your team required to have a webcam on for a large chunk of their working day?
It always depends on your scale. I was at a company that had a month spend in the 6 figures and they wanted to constantly talk. A different company I was at the spend was 3 figures a month, and we couldn't get any help at all, even knowing some internal folks in different areas of the company.
I've hired lots of software devs over my career at startups and mega corps.
1) At startups and some larger companies only experience and competency matter, the interviews are used as the filter.
2) At many large companies HR goes through resumes first, and there are certain booleans they use, a popular one is, has any degree. Many of these companies had easier interviews than (1), but some still have very difficult interviews
I'm also still holding on to my 6S+. We upgraded my wife to an 11 and I just don't see anything that I have to have. Eventually, I'll upgrade for a better camera but I'll probably keep using the 6S+ until the battery can't hold a charge
