Camping, the Ruby micro web framework originally created by _why the lucky stiff, is now using the Ruby Users Forum as its official discussion space.

The project is currently maintained by Karl Oscar Weber, who is also working on updates to the framework and a future Camping 4 release.

February was a great month for the Ruby Users Forum! We welcomed 87 new members and saw 181 new posts across active discussions. We introduced tags (with getting-started already the most popular), added GIF support, and enabled GitHub login. Some top discussions included Cassidoo’s Interview Question of the Week and installing Ruby with mise. In March we’re launching community challenges and sharing curated Ruby learning resources. Join the conversation!

We’re sunsetting Ruby Newbie and merging its content into the Ruby Users Forum.

Ruby Newbie was a site dedicated to helping beginners get started with Ruby through guides, tutorials, and posts aimed at making the first steps in Ruby easier and more approachable.

Here’s what this means:

* All Ruby Newbie posts are now available under the Getting Started tag in the Ruby Users Forum. Link: https://www.rubyforum.org/tag/getting-started * The Getting Started with Ruby Guide is available to download in the Learning Resourses Category. Link: https://www.rubyforum.org/t/getting-started-with-ruby/24

By integrating everything into the Ruby Users Forum, we can build a stronger, up-to-date knowledge base and make it easier for new members to learn and connect with others.

We’re excited for this next chapter and can’t wait to collaborate with you all!

Make sure you signup to the Ruby Users Forum if you haven't already.

We’re excited to announce that the Ruby Users Forum is officially live.

The forum is a new space for people who learn, use, and care about Ruby to ask questions, share resources, and have thoughtful discussions about the language and its ecosystem.

You can explore the forum and join the conversation here: https://www.rubyforum.org/

If you work with Ruby or are learning it, we’d love for you to join and help spread the word.

Yes, here are some of the differences of a forum vs reddit:

* Clear structure with discussions organized by categories and tags.

* Keep discussions on-topic and reduce noise with strictly linear conversations.

* Find what you're looking for with a comprehensive, powerful advanced search.

* Conversations are broken up into individual topics, making them browsable, searchable, and readable. Built-in trust system to defend you against trolls, bad actors, and spammers.

* Forums are built for large communities, and hundreds of people can simultaneously participate.

Additionally, the forum is not intending to replace but rather complement existing platforms and community spaces. A couple of highlights on how we are planning to run it:

* Collaborating with existing communities to complement each other.

* Maintaining a long-term vision to strengthen the Ruby ecosystem.
