I use tmux with vim and configure it to use Ctrl-a. Not for vim, but because I started with GNU screen that used this key. For the cases when I need actual Ctrl-a, tmux is configured to send it when I do “Ctrl-a a”.

As a Russian native speaker, names were not the problem, but the dense boring prose of Dostoyevsky was. On top of this, I did not like Crime and Punishment at all. I believe a lot of it has to do with the degree of association of the reader with the main character. As a 14 year old, I could not understand what the whole fuss is about, the whole thing felt like a feverish dream in the pool of molasses.

Probably the assumption is that renewables replace a different base load like coal or gas powered plants.

To summarize: 40% of tonnage but 50% of tonnage-kilometres. I thought freight volume would be measured in ton-kilometres in the first place.

Apple, sure. But Google and Meta are really advertising companies, whose income stream comes from enterprises, big and small.

If you are measuring the show up against the books - I did not read them, so I loved it purely based on the show itself.

I was also dumbfounded by this claim. The only thing I could think of were C++ monomorphic templates that will avoid the penalty of some indirection and DIY dynamic typing.

As a father of a newborn never have I ever seen an HN comment so incisive and to the point.

In the same vein, Bloomberg office in London UK has an Ancient Rome museum and the access is free: https://www.bloomberg.org/arts/advancing-the-arts-around-wor... (disclosure: I work for Bloomberg).

They could not find the site and searched for it for years. A stark reminder that civilian use of GPS is relatively recent thing. The site was created in 1990s and GPS was opened for civilian use only in 1995 and gained equal accuracy by legislation in 2000.

Absolutely. Last year we went to Italy and I played “The Count of Tuscany” in the car while driving in Chianti region. My wife does not really enjoy Dream Theater but that was in the rider for the Italy trip :-)

Fallingwater is more than work of art, it is a religious experience. I visited it three times (each time my visit to Pittsburgh and the area surrounding the house was to specifically see it) and every damn time I stood weeping leaving the tour.
