"The Governor's lobbying, while ultimately successful, proved to be controversial. The controversy stemmed in part from the fact that governor's request violated a required waiting period of five years after a person's death prior to renaming a geographic feature; Piestewa had been killed earlier that year while deployed on active military duty in Iraq." https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piestewa_Peak#Name

Googling "five years after death geographic feature" gives me a United States Geological Survey Source https://www.usgs.gov/us-board-on-geographic-names/how-do-i

If a monument could be named a day or a month after someone's death, that may create a Perverse Incentive for "early deaths" for brownie points...

Wrong, Africa, India, China are growing. And half of Africans plan on migrating to Europe, thus growing Europe's population as well. As for the USA, 4 million migrants from God knows where have bolstered our pop as well.

"World populaion is maybe even falling" lmao

I'm still pissed "Squaw Peak" in Phoenix, AZ was renamed for some Native American woman, even though she was still alive/ had not yet been dead for the amount of time required for such honorific namings.

That mountain will be "Squaw Peak" until the day I die.

In my week of chatting with the Replika AI (app), I had so much fun parsing whether "AI" messages were: Tutorialization-Onboarding, Filter-NoNo-Messages, OR Actual-AI-Replies

Though to be fair, Humans also have filters and "unengaged responses" to sensitive or undesired topics. And maybe even instilled in them by other agents!!

Perhaps Orcas nibble at eachothers tails for fun, but multiple cases of breakage seems less-than-playful

Bigot!

What people do in the privacy of their homes only concerns the homeowneer, Gary, Tom, Dick, Harry, 5 Jane Does, and the cutting edge of Smallpox Epidemiology research!!

Looking at exponential world population growth makes me fear that: We will only become MORE risk averse, more afraid of contagious illness, and more reliant on Digital work/ entertainment. Do your part to stop the Spread, by staying home and keeping eyes glued to your Screens...

Sybil attack on Spotify! Since both Spotify and Grubhub have a digital layer, actors can multiply endlessly!

Is the only solution to retreat to campfire songs and home cooking?

"If Gay patients are uncomfortable with Bigoted doctors, these patients deserve Compassionate doctors" is, I believe, a better summary of their comment.

Great! In my college parking structure, I once had the misfortune of having to step over 20 of these damn things.

I called the transport office, and asked if I would be recieving a discount on my parking spot, if the campus would allow these devices to freely profit off of the structure I was paying to use.

Next day they were all gone, though a handful stubbornly continued to show up.

The distinction is "threat to any government" vs "threats to OUR government"

Sure, ANY Republic does not rely on States, as evidenced by Singapore. But OURS (if you are also a USA citizen) does.

Is there a parallel risk of "Democracy" overwhelming the "Republic" aspects of our Democracy*?

Per google search ".. etymology" demos: the people; -cratia: power, rule; Greek. res: entity, concern; publicus: of the people, public; Latin

"Rule of the People" and "Concern of the People" sound SIMILAR, sure!

Just because a mechanic is concerned for your car, does not mean he owns it... I think it's lazy of you to call this dichotomy "propoganda" without offering any definitions or etymology.

Yes, I'm always curious who "we" and "our" means in these cases...

As a tangent, the USA is a Democratic Republic, and yet all I ever hear is threats to "Our Democracy" I never hear about threats to "Our Republic"
