If the US stops support would the war end? I don't really think so, but maybe. If it did, though, I would guess lives would be saved. That doesn't seem like a delusion.

It did all work great in the books, and would certainly have worked in the movies as well. But, the effort and care they've put into this additionally world-building seems totally in the spirit of the original Dune to me. There were a number of things that I had imagined differently when reading the books, but this was a rare case where I think they've done an excellent job bringing their version to the screen.

I think OP is expressing concern that maybe young people aren't living there as much as you'd hope.
Most of these issues, and the extent to which they are issues, are in the eye of the beholder.

Does being terminally online contribute more or less to this? I'm still not sure, but leaning towards more. People always parroted others, but now with social reach being so concentrated, it seems like everyone parrots from a smaller pool. The consequence/reward for expression are much more well defined in the online world as well.
I used to hitchhike a lot, and nearly every stranger (a couple nutjobs here and there) I met in that manner was interesting. Travelling in general, you meet a lot of strangers in situations where they are feeling charitable or helpful, which leads to great interactions. Also, in/around the wilderness, strangers are usually more eager/open to interaction.
This seems to be an example of the opposite of this. From a quick search, Thiel is from a first gen immigrant family of no extraordinary wealth. Yet, your comment is implying that prior wealth is responsible for his current wealth, which gave him an unfair advantage over the rest of us. I think that is absurd, this guy's talents+luck are clearly responsible for his success.
