on chrome based browsers with Linux I have to disable 'use graphic acceleration when available' in the browser settings or the browser with freeze intermittently. This has been a consistent issue across distros for years. Not sure if it also affects firefox.

Disabling this feature mostly works, but results in poor performance for some graphics heavy websites.

I also had a lot of issues with my AMD framework laptop and ended up reverting back to a older Intel Framework laptop. Top issues with the AMD laptop were the realtek wireless, and random AMD (integrated) GPU glitches. Intel hardware continues to be absolutely top tier for Linux support.

even the ADL stated it was obviously not a nazi salute. please pull back from the brink and stop advocating for political violence

I've watched that a couple times and I'm pretty sure he accidentally cancelled autopilot by jerking the wheel with his hands. His hand movement lines up with the autopilot disengage. I've done that several times myself, it is deliberately sensitive to wheel torque as a manual disengagement mechanism.

the footage he posted on x does not fully match the in car footage on youtube so there was evidently multiple runs. it seems unlikely that the mirror wall could be repaired so I am left to conclude that he kept driving the tesla at the wall until he crashed through it (manually). that being said I would not be super surprised to find that a carefully crafted mirror wall would confuse autopilot. that seems to be a logical weakness of a vision based system.

EPA is a cycle of speeds with a max of about 60 MPH. The EPA range is accurate if you drive the EPA cycle in your car - which obviously no one does. I feel like everyone knows this by now.

kind of odd article to post, just feels like rage bait

I roast around 15 pounds a year. I noticed prices have gone up 1-2 dollars/pound at my main supplier (sweet marias). The average is now about $8.5/pound. That is a price I'm still comfortable with.

At my consumption level so far the price changes haven't been a big deal. It could be that high end beans haven't been as affected - or maybe that was the 'brutal' price hike.

keeping my fingers crossed that everything works out. must be very tense for the astronauts.

yeah that was absolutely incredible to watch. Starships fin was melting away like the terminator robot in the smelting pot but it still did its job. Absolutely excited about the future of humanity and spaceflight!

that is mostly ice. The propellent is super chilled so ice forms on the whole outside of the rocket, and then comes off during the launch and in flight.

You can also see this on the Atlas 5 + starliner launch from yesterday to a lesser degree

the video from the booster simulated landing in the ocean was incredible! It came in and did a soft landing vertically just touching the ocean, engines cut, it appeared to be floating for a second and then just kind of slowly fell over.

I did not think they would nail the booster landing this flight, as it was not stable all the way down on the last flight. Absolutely incredible watching this live

Boeing launch was yesterday. Every space account on X was talking about it. The ULA, Boeing, and NASA accounts were all posting about it.

Elon retweeted the livestream and wished them luck : https://x.com/elonmusk/status/1798338630471364871

He also congratulated them and retweeted a follow up post from Nasa Kennedy Space center.
