Big Island never got superferry. Back in the 70s there was Seaflite on Boeing hydroplanes that was short lived as well.

All modern industrial machinery has safety features that often include shutting down the machine. Most machine owners are allowed to send mainteance in to evaluate the reason of the shutdown, resolve the issue and restart the machine, without calling the OEM.

Imagine if a walk-in cooler had a high-temp alarm, and the machine shut itself down, and locked the cooler as a result, then told the owner to call the cooler OEM. Thankfully it doesn't work that way, it might alarm then you diagnose (radiator fan not running, fan coils covered in leaves, whatever) resolve and restart.

That's kind of the point, if they didnt avoid that trajectory then what are they doing? Going down with the ship?

Can't heat with gas without electricity, unless you have a genset or power wall kind of thing to provide epower.

I rode the Cathlamet ferry recently. It was great except its cash only and I had no idea. I got super lucky that someone else in line just paid for my ride.

I’m just talking about basic worksheets to do some math in 5 minutes, let alone actual hard work.

My entire company (800+) runs on gsuite for better or worse. At least in browser on desktop its functional.

I wouldn’t say gmail is good if the compose button floats on top of my inbox, a new message opens up in a modal and covers anything you’re trying to read/refer to. No format buttons.

Sheets is terrible. Cannot use the magic keyboard to shift your active cell (ie click a cell, type = and use arrow keys to find the cell you want to reference.. it just quits the cell).

Anything in the gSuite is terrible on iPadOS. Excel is also fairly crippled. I can’t see how it’s usable at all.

Even just for emailing, GMail at least is a terrible application on iPad. For examples, cannot format anything, or view one email while writing another (that isn’t a reply).

I primarily use mine for

* Note taking

* Browsing/showing PDFs in a construction engineering setting. Nothing is faster or as flexible.

* Sketching for construction drawings

But the lack of good tabular worksheet and emails beyond quick replies pushes me back to my laptop all the time.

Yeah all that is true.. but what is even worse is the relationship between "account execs" and "Decision makers". Only reason they keep getting the work are those to players.

The point is to take carbon out of the cycle. Not mining petroleum would of course have the same effect but good luck getting people to do that.
