I think they are pretty serious about high quality software development. There are often questions and concerns from (tech/non-tech) management about build times, compute costs, software product’s performance etc. PS:I work at ASML.

Exactly, I guess that's because HN has quite software-heavy crowd. Most of them like to see software changing the world.
