yeah, those crazy people who gift vinyl to people and collectors who want to make a profit are craaaazy people. (this is sarcasm, these are normal things (not at all an exhaustive list) that might make you buy a vinyl without owning a turntable)

also, we're probably getting some really good stats with this stuff with the folks buying at their local record store, right?

by the way, what was the phrasing of the question they used to get this information?

On M1, there's no way to disable the internal monitor on a laptop. On Intel there is a flaky & unsupported boot arg: niog=1

On Windows, this is the most trivial task in the world.

This was an amazingly delightful read. I was hoping it would shed some light on a long-time project I had which was reversing the Oxford language dictionaries that were included on CDROM with the big printed texts. (I already did it, but with a debugger instead of by reversing the binary format). Alas, it did not, but it was super encouraging to see the enthusiasm and interest in language dictionaries.

In fairness, it's lightly curated, or perhaps just misses a bunch.

It's endemic. I think critical mass at this point would just be a single case such as this one to catch fire in the national media. Something is missing from the equation and my guess is maybe deep pockets or familiar actors.
