Thinly if at this point at all veiled anti natalist propaganda with the same tired old talking points. These articles talk about how marriage doesn’t last and children are too expensive. Their solutions never involve fixing the divorce rate and lowering the price of childcare but instead abandoning it all entirely for the corporatist dystopia of the future of wage slavery and government controlled populations. “Things will get easier if you just give up and lay on your back”
Instead of asking yourself “how do I live without a family” ask yourself who has to benefit from you not having a family. Here’s a quick tip: it’s not the environment, it all comes down to independence from government and corporate entities. The same governments and corporate entities that try to convince you that you must live like a slave in order to save the environment they themselves are killing.
Family life isn’t for everyone, and while individualism is great, the family unit is our most powerful and important unit and when the family unit suffers, we all suffer.
I’m excited. In my opinion pixel art is timeless and has a charm no other style can compete with. Concernedape makes such a lovely game without being preachy and political. I’m looking forward to another gem.
Everything about this from being talked to like an idiot (“interwebs!”) to the fugly corporate art tells me this is about no different than any other corporation that’s hungry for your data. It also tells me who they think is foolish enough to use their product with all the left wing revolutionary imagery. I think “useful idiot” is the term? Services these days that throw around words like “privacy” and “control” seem like a way to profit off of people sick of being taken advantage of by taking advantage of them in a way that makes them feel good.
I can’t believe this “CoC” meme actually propagated.
Project maintainers should assess whether these CoC pushers are actually bringing any value to the project.
These CoC’s feel like a way to remove someone you don’t like from a project without any real productive basis. A weapon used by folks who like to feel self righteous when they “cancel” people who don’t align with their ideologies.
Adults don’t need a “Code of Conduct” to know they should be civil and respectful. If there’s to be a CoC it should only state “get rid of anything that gets in the way of good code” and they should start by booting these CoC nazis who are making their childish fragility’s other peoples problems.
Don’t like something someone said? Talk to them personally before wasting people’s time and resources.
Cant wait to read the rest of the Canterbury tales or better yet listen to a brand new 8 track michael jackson album. What’s stopping us from putting out a second bible? Didn’t know we needed “AI” to make things up for us.
I feel like this is a very silly use of “AI” but at least the novelty is interesting and hopefully the data gathered from such a thing can improve machine learning in other ways.
Political pressure boils down to money in the first place. Youtube cannot exist without advertisers (its actual customers) In this case its money lost not money made. Advertisers with an agenda can basically pressure Youtube into doing whatever they want if they threaten to pull out. In all my years of working in advertising one thing I’ve learned is that advertisers do not care if something they don’t like is contained elsewhere on the website, if it’s there they’ll get their way or leave.
Isn’t the lack of a “nutritional label” for weed a product of century long prohibition? The very thing you spend the premium for I see being commonplace post-federal legalization.
I think not before long, minimal packaging gas station reggie will be a thing of the past and picking out quality weed will be like choosing your favorite wine at the grocery store.
While some CBD products I do believe to be snake oil, what basis do you have for products containing both CBD and THC to only being effective as a placebo? CBD isn’t truly effective without THC and the THC is what basically turns the snake oil into a legitimately effective product. Additionally, everyone’s sensitivity to marijuana differs and while skin absorption may be “low” that does not mean none and even the effects of a low amount can be felt.
The street prices of Marijuana are still better than retail prices. To completely dominate this market, the price per gram of high THC content marijuana needs to go under $10. The walmart of weed is going to trample anybody who can’t compete with that, and right now that’s everybody.
That’s a whole lot of fluff just to say that they were either paid to do this or advertisers would pull out if they didn’t. It’s all about money and has nothing to do with care for anyone’s wellbeing.
While I agree that Facebook is lying, how come we want to hold Facebook accountable when it’s the parents who are being negligent? Giving your children privacy is important but that doesn’t mean you have to let them use social media or have no idea who they’re talking to. Talk to any kid on the internet today and they will tell you they encounter pedophiles, groomers, psychological torture, and bullying. Talk to the schools and they tell you all their issues (fights, bullying) arise from Facebook. You can control what apps your children use, technology is getting easier than ever and if you can afford their iphone, you can afford robust parental controls or at least time out of your day.
How can you put a number on an ephemeral emotion like confidence but not something more tangible like intelligence? Are anecdotal surveys really an accepted form of research in this kind of field? I’m genuinely curious as it seems that a lot of studies of this nature are generalizing quackery to confirm inherit biases and provide un-individualized cheap solutions.
I’ve limited my social media to a group chat with friends, an entertainment website with discussion, and an informative website with discussion (HN)
I’m no longer absorbed in sensationalist media and I’m no longer angry about some flavor of the week topic. I don’t see ads anymore and I’ve been a lot happier since. Now I can work towards minimizing other unproductive and unfulfilling screen time.
