Are you like 20? Your own country and allies have probably thrown fuel into some of these fires historically.

> It’s getting a bit boring to be honest.

Learn some empathy. Or next time something happens to your country I'm gonna feel the same.

You are not as important as you think you are.

Not all HN users are in America/Europe, stupidly ignorant about the rest of the world.

To us, Ukraine/Russia is the same old tiresome story.

It definitely crossed 8M, but not sure if it crossed the previous highest (Felix Baumgartner freefall) which is also around 8M.

Can you clarify how is history being rewritten here? All I see is a discussion of historical events to the best extent possible using available data. Everything can be googled for references. Are you discrediting the BBC? And where is the anti-Muslim sentiment? I reckon your victim complex is the real problem here. I suggest reading more rather than falling for cheap simplistic narratives that are widely available for consumption.

QoL != wealth. For example, many Americans live in Europe and more would gladly do so despite significantly lower per-capita income.

Yeah, people who think jobs being shipped to other countries is bad should realise that in the long run this increases their own mobility. The quality of life gap between the US and these countries decreases, because higher per-capita income makes everything better. This leads to fewer visa restrictions between those countries. Believe me, India's geographical diversity and cultural openness makes it an amazing place to live provided it fixes its pressing issues and increases its HDI.

Tangentially, this shows why moving jobs to countries with similar values of democracy/pluralism/diversity (e.g. India) is better than authoritarian states, as the latter does not really improve the mobility of your citizens.

Despite continuous cries of "capitalism bad" these days it continues to uplift people all around the world by offering skilled people a fairer chance to compete, while also promoting long lasting world peace. We need more of it, not less.

While I somewhat agree that progress has been slow, a decade is hardly anything considering the scale of a country like India.

Citation needed.

Seriously, it has become a pattern now in every thread related to India. Really shows how HN techies are clueless about real world trends and live in their small bubbles.

These nonsense generalizations have no place on HN. Similar cultural norms exist in many European countries, but they are never brought up. Such thinly veiled racism against Asians is nauseating.

The creation of Pakistan is one of the biggest mistakes in modern history. The only country created on the basis of religion, thanks to the nonsensical Two Nation Theory https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two-nation_theory. It was created so Muslims can be safe in their own country, but ironically Muslims in India enjoy a way better life and future prospects. As an Indian I wish the country gets rid of its weird Muslim superiority complex and adopts secular values so peace between our nations becomes a real possiblity.

The Pakistani government even removed the word "Muslim" from his headstone. Sick backward country. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abdus_Salam#Death

> The Hindu explains why poverty doesn’t upset her.

So according to the author me and my community are not upset by poverty and hence are not doing anything to fix it.

Who is this author again and why are people listening to a charlatan like him?

I hope they close down permanently. At least it creates more incentive for countries to invest in reducing greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

> You lost me at Churchill is worse than Hitler

For Indians*. It's not hard to understand, Churchill caused more harm than Hitler in India.

> people flooding into England have minimal respect for the British culture

Wrong. I respect rule of law, democratic institutions, scientific rigour, equality, secularism. That I believe is British culture. I will always root for these values, and indeed these are also the fundamental values of the Indian constitution. My problem is only with people like you who have forgotten these values. I consider myself more British than you. Well tbf I consider myself a global citizen.

What I do not respect is denial of your own history, weird unfounded superiority complex and meddling in other countries affairs. US and allies have a history of supporting non-democratic genocidal regimes in many parts of the world including the Indian subcontinent, all while claiming a moral high ground.

> subsumed by a culture that has ecologically irresponsible amounts of children.

You don't learn do you? Go read the book I mentioned in my previous comment.

> To be fair the British are opening the doors to let it happen.

There are many Brits smarter than you who see the bigger picture.

Wrong on every point. Luckily right now I have the patience to correct you.

> Every country on the planet fought tooth and nail for all of our existence

Ah yes. Killing hundreds of millions and siphoning off trillions over couple hundred years, only to "fight for your own existence". You even worship Churchill as a hero who was worse than Hitler. You are a joke.

> I like how you make the distinction between Indian and Britain.

Asians were considered as a different class/caste in your own English legal system and denied certain rights back then. So yeah.

> Why isn't India the greatest GDP country on the planet if what you're saying is true?

Yeah, and why can't we solve nuclear fusion already? Surely it only takes a few years...

> because they don't have ecologically responsible numbers of children

Poverty leads to high birth rates, not culture. If you had the slightest clue about anything you would understand that fundamental fact. Read up on demographic transition, and how it has been delayed in Asia/Africa because of European imperialism. I recommend the book Factfulness by Hans Rosling. Birth rates are falling everywhere and human population will hit the peak in a few decades. As for fucking the planet, read up on which countries have the highest cumulative emissions and continue to have high per-capita emissions because of their greedy lifestyles. There was a time when London had worse air than Delhi today. Things change, unlike your static worldview.

I'm really starting to question the quality of your education system, maybe that's why your country is failing. No worries, we're here to take the wheel. Signing off from London, UK.
