No, you are not. A substantial majority of people consider this foolish

Just think of it as a weird entertainment show that doesn’t have to be rational. There are crazies in all historical eras; the various social justice people are ours :)

There are many people who feel differently. Which is enough to change the market significantly since real estate prices are highly demand-elastic.

LA has cool, attractive people. Which, especially for a straight guy, SF really does not.

Plus if you are in Santa Monica or Venice the traffic to get to other cool places is not that bad.

And SF is the worst large city for dating in the world.

Many of my friends who own large companies are explicitly saying they will never rent offices again. As a founder/CEO this is an obvious move.

My observation is that people outside the US either are confused or laugh at Americans for giving in to all this social justice nonsense, the “let’s be racist to white people” the “biological sex does not exist” etc.

And people inside the US who trust me enough to express their honest opinion also think it’s nonsense but are too scared to speak up.

Best comment I’ve heard on this was “it’s like the USSR - everyone knows it is bullshit but nobody wants to publicly say it.”

Or, from a senior person at Google “all the work on my team is done by 3 white guys in Eastern Europe, but there are 20 other people for the diversity pie chart.”

It would be laughable if it weren’t so toxic.
