There is a third little dot near the camera you can see with a flashlight and that's an ambient light sensor.

I thought the connecting arrows were bugged at first, then I realized it's a genius implementation. This alone makes me want to use this more than Figjam.

That's called optical alignment. He somewhat mentions that with the Apple logo example.
