Somewhere in the Bible there's an admonition to "pull the log out of one's own eye before chastising someone else for the mote in theirs". Seems applicable here.

Certainly the very last people I'd use as an ethical ideal these days would be a journalist, entertainer, or movie star.

Given time all parody becomes reality. Almost exactly 20 years ago I wrote a parody article claiming that "motherboards" should be called "mainboards" because the term motherboard is offensive (it contains slots into which you plug things).

This Bloomberg article should have ran on April 1st.

Let’s pretend for a moment that we renamed aaaaall the code in the world to be main and replica or whatever combinations you can think of.

What have we gained?

Is this not just the same as, or worse than saying ‘f-word’ .oO( oh he mean f* )

Now every time you read the word replica, then you are reminded... ohhh SLAVE.

This idea that policing words is supposed to solve anything is myopic.

this kind of article gives me the creep. The ideological gap between some part of the US and Europe is growing so wide that i don’t think i’d be able to work there anymore.
