Ask HN: How to get rid of Adobe Acrobate subscription without cancellation fees?

After using Foxit PDF for a long time, I decided to check out Adobe Acrobat and gave them my credit card for a monthly subscription. I had thought I will cancel it. But it costs a lot to cancel, especially for someone like me from a developing country. Furthermore, its a substandard product, hangs all the time, at least as compared to NitroPDF and Foxit.

I am unable to find an email or contact to directly reach out to their sales team to waive the cancellation charges either.

Any help will be appreciated.

You mean the annual subscription you chose to pay monthly because it was cheaper than the actual monthly subscription?

I think the point is that you should have chosen the monthly plan that allowed cancellations during the year. You specifically chose an annual plan, so if you want to cancel you'll owe a cancellation fee.

I got stung by this a while back and got Adobe to waive the cancellation fee and close my account over live chat.

You can bring up the chat widget from the chat bubble icon on https://helpx.adobe.com/contact/what-contact-options.html. You may need to whitelist the page in your adblocker for the widget to load.

Tell them that the software isn’t working as expected and you are experiencing major performance problem via live chat might be the best way to do it.
